Our Estimate & Installation Process

1) Crown Moulding Estimate

The handshake, a contract for custom moulding fabrication & installation.

First, our sales team will come to your home for a free consultation and crown moulding estimate. At this time, we will bring various samples of moulding profiles, and suggest what might look good in your home. Once you select the profiles to be used, we will take very basic measurements of the rooms to be estimated. We will then produce a proposal which is based on the number of units, a unit value being based on room size, number of corners, and number of moulding profiles if you select a build up. During this meeting you will receive a proposal, which will become the basis for the contract if you decide to move forward. Upon receipt of a 30% down payment, we will begin the measurement process.

Precise measurements with lasers and digital measuring. Your custom mouldings will be fabricated to exact standards.

2) In-Home Digital Measurement

The next step in our process is to use laser beams and digital protractors to precisely measure every wall and angle in each room. This process takes about 10 minutes per room. When we are done, we have a digital blueprint of the entire work area, which we forward to our fabrication shop.

3) Off-Site Custom Fabrication

Custom moulding fabrication with precision miter saws. We work offsite in our machine shop so there is minimal impact to your location.

Cutting mouldings at various angles creates an enormous amount of saw dust. We prefer to keep this dust in our shop instead of generating it in your garage or driveway and then tracking it through your home. Our expert craftsmen cut every piece of trim for each room at precisely the correct length. We use permanently mounted 12" sliding compound miter saws to ensure that material is cut accurately and squarely. (This is as opposed to using a small saw and temporary stand on the job site). All joints are machine-coped, which creates extremely tight joints—even if your walls and ceilings are not at precise 90-degree angles. We then package all of the pieces for each room together and load them into trucks for delivery to your home.

4) Moulding Installation

Precision installation of crown moulding by professional carpenters using power tools & finishing nails.

Upon arrival at your home, a uniformed installation team brings the packages of material directly to the appropriate room. The installation process is then accomplished using custom jigs to ensure that the mouldings maintain the proper spring angles and ceiling projections. All outer corners are glued together to ensure they do not come apart due to seasonal changes in humidity. All inner corners are sprung together quite tightly since they have all been coped at our shop. Final attachment to the walls and ceilings is done using 16 gauge angled finish nails. Nail holes and joints are immediately filled, and the team moves on to the next wall.
